Changing Course
The winds changed when we lost Wind Dragon, and so as sailors do, we adjusted our sails.
Without the boat we focused on where we wanted to be; the best areas with stable temperatures, consistently timed sunrises and sunsets, and which are outside of the major hurricane zone. Jodi’s favorite Dutch island of Curacao hit all the marks.
We were serious about this newly chartered course, and when Covid-19 erupted onto the scene less than a year later in late February of 2020 we were in fact on a cruise to Curacao with appointments to look at real estate while we were there, and we were attempting to learn Dutch! Well, you know the story from there. Our cruise was fine, we were fine, but obviously no property was purchased or was even able to be viewed during our trip, and the world went into lockdown.
Six months later William lost his closest friend and bandmate to the pandemic, the United States (which had long since quit being united) was going through torrential upheaval, and the virus was still spreading throughout the planet, even creeping into distant and remote areas usually left untouched.
The winds were changing again.
